Amazing lottery ticket sculpture
This is what a Hummer H3 looks like when made out of $39,000 worth of discarded lottery tickets rather than spangly bits of pimp metal. It is the pièce de résistance of a series by New York artists Ghost of a Dream.
The artists, husband and wife Adam Eckstrom and Lauren Was, started picking up dead lottery tickets when out walking their dog in Brooklyn. Reflecting that each of these downtrodden patches of colour represented the ghost of a dream, they decided to use them to bring those ghosts to life.
“We had really fallen in love with these objects so we began asking corner shops to save them for us and going out on collecting expeditions getting them from everywhere we could think of.”
The artists have also used the “refuse of dreams” to depict a dream home interior, a desert island and a luxury yacht. Since they began in 2006, their work has been exhibited around the world. It seems those lottery tickets still had some value left in them after all…
