Real life Hobbit pub

We all love our local boozer: friendly, cozy, authentic. Venturing to another pub can sometimes feel strange – setting foot on another’s turf, upsetting the finely sculpted ambience. Especially when that pub is in Middle-earth. The Green Dragon, made famous through the timeless tales of JRR Tolkien and the movies of Peter Jackson, has been turned into a real pub in ‘Hobbiton’, a Lord Of The Rings theme park in New Zealand.

Coinciding with the release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, the pub hopes to help attract 100,000 visitors to the tourist attraction over the next 12 months.

As you can see, the pub completely recreates everything that we love about Middle Earth. WingNut Films art director and Green Dragon project manager Brian Massey oversaw the construction, fabrication and detailed decoration.
